So last weekend I went to Stockholm! As I have Swedish ancestors, I figured it would be good to take the opportunity to go while I can. I wasn't disappointed.
I arrived on Thursday night (after almost getting stuck in Copenhagen due to delays) and slept in the airport that night. Before you all freak out- there were tons of other people around, I have a lock for my suitcase, and I looked up information on it online beforehand. After a not-so-good night's sleep (comfy bench, way too much noise) I headed into town to find my hostel in the Gamla Stan (Old Town). It was a really cute place and in the center of town.
Then I went exploring! I saw the National Museum and spent probably 3 hours there, it had so much cool stuff! I also found this GORGEOUS park:
and I had lunch nearby. Then I went back to the hostel to nap before I had to pick up L at the train station at 1am because she missed her flight and didn't get in until 11. Then we stayed up until 4 am talking and eating pasta lol.
Lots of sleep, then back out exploring! We saw the palace:
inside and out. Who knew Sweden still had monarchs?!
We took pretty pictures by the park I already showed you and had lots of chai tea at a cafe nearby. After more random exploring (and hot dogs. They have tons of hotdog stands there) we tried to find the National Library and got very lost/walked way farther than needed. Basically it wasn't where it said it was on my map, which of course makes it very hard to find. We stopped for dinner and drinks, though, and had amaaaazing Italian food (don't judge- it's impossible to find traditional Swedish food there, go figure).
The palace has weird hours (only 12-4) so we went back again on Sunday for a bit and explored the Old Town, and got postcards. Then we had to catch our planes back to our respective countries, and I arrived home just in time for dinner!
There are more pictures on my Facebook, of course, so you can look at those if you want to see more!
